Upward Rankings is a company started in 2005 by Steve Beyerlin of Gold Beach, Oregon. We have operated a tourist based business as a river guide for over 20 year on the Oregon Coast. The town that we live in is Gold Beach with a population of about 2000 and is the county seat. The county has a population of 22,000 souls, that enjoy clean air and the outdoors.

A business owner here must reach outside of the local area to let potential clients know about their product. We started with websites on the internet in about 1990 having a site for our fishing business and our vacation rental. This site was built by a touted webmaster and resulted in less than desirable results for the dollars and time invested. Although we did receive some business through the website it was not enough. It took a few years before we realized after repeated conversations with our touted webmaster that he did not really know how to improve our web presence and rankings.

Being that we had a tourist based business the summer months were to busy to get much work done and winters hiring someone to help was to expensive. So the only two choices were learn to optimize my own sites or don't do it. I sat down at my computer and researched every article I could and applied what I had learned. I soon began to get comments and calls not all of them friendly that my sites were coming up at the top of searches for nearly every search term related to our site. How come your everywhere my competitors would say, customer would call and say I was searching for a Oregon Fishing Guide and you came up at or near the top on all my searches so I am calling you. We now book up to 13 guides through Rogue River Country and our Guide Shack. We were doing 4 Sport Shows (Trade Shows) a year for a week each and $1200 in expenses, now we do internet marketing instead.

Our average contact for Rogue River Country or Fish Oregon is coming from a much greater distance now, many from the East Coast and other nations. We would never have reached these customers if we had not gotten ranked high on search engines for our Guide Service business.

In short we now are applying what we have learned to others websites with great success (see our customers page for a few examples).
